Types of wood and Surfaces
Quality begins with the right choice of wood; our experts selcet raw material on location. With regards to hardwood, they consider the criteria of predominantly standing annual rings, free of heart wood and sap wood. Coniferous wood has a detached heart with firmly adnated branches.
Hardwood FSC-certified
Wind, weather, rain, sun, heat and cold, bearing a lot or little weight. Outdoor garden-furniture has to withstand
these strains. Wood is rated according to resistance classifications. Tropical wood can be found in
the highest ranked classification exclusively. Even after centuries of weathering, tropical wood looses only
a fraction of it's natural durabilty. Due to it's high self-resistance, impregnation and varnishing are unnecessary.
Maintenance of treated or oiled hardwood-products is minimal. We process FSC hardwood.
The FSC-certificate is the only world-wide recognized certificate for wood products which originate from sustainable
forest cultivation.
The FSC is supported by all renowned ecological and environmental conservation groups.
Please refer to our information page regarding FSC.
Coniferous wood
The coniferous wood utilized by us is weatherproof.
Therefore, just as tropical hardwood, it may be utilized outdoors without extra surface treatment. Durability is lower than the durability of our tropical FSC-hardwood.
Also, coniferous wood has a lower material-density; therefore, it does not stand up to mechanical wear to the same degree.
Oiling the wood is possible, however, we recommend to glaze the wood surface.

Untreated surfaces
Maintenance of untreated wood is minimal, the wood will develop a silver-grey patina when exposed to the elements. Possible colour deviations will disappear.
At the end of its' lifespan, untreated wood may be reintegrated in its' natural cycle of matter without a problem. Ecologically, this product version is highly recommendable.
Oiled surfaces
If desired, you may obtain FSC-hardwood in an oiled version. The natural colour of the wood will thus be maintained. However, oiling should be repeated regularly intervaillic. Intervals are shorter than those regarding varnished surfaces. The maintenance intevals are dependant on exposure and location. Application in easy. The oil is applied with a cloth and absorbed by the wood. As a rule, dismanting of the bench is not required. Colour examples (colour deviations are possible):

Varnished surfaces
Bringing colour into play!
Do you want a coloured surface finish? If desired, we will varnish FSC-hardwood, douglas fri in shades "walnuttree-brown" and "oak-colour", ar alternatively, in a RAL-chart colour of your choice. These surfaces have the advantage of being durable, very smooth and even yet in varying colours. Outdoors, varnished wood is exposed to both environmental strain as well as abrasion. Maintenance is more extensive than oiling the surface, however, applicant intervals are much longer. Regular maintenance, i. e. renewal of varnish, is inevitable. Please see maintenance instructions. Regarding high mechanical strain / abrasion (highly frquented public areas, schools, play-grounds, city centre) we recommend the thin layer procedure. This method is also used in our standard programme. If there is little or no strain on the product, then a thick layer procedure is possible, as long as you pay heed to regular maintenance intervals.
